Installing a different language version of IE on WinXP-SP2

Hi,

I have WINXP Japanese version installed on my PC. I have to keep it because
many software that were preinstalled on this machine work only with Japanese
language Windows. With just XP and XP+SP1, I could install English versions
of IE and OE. However, after installing SP2, the menus in IE and OE appear
in Japanese language, and I cannot find any way to get them back in English
(or install their English versions). Is there any way to handle this
problem? When I try to download the English versions of IE, it refers me to
windows update site, which simply tells me that I don't need any update for
IE. If I try to install English version of SP2, an error message appears
that the language of installed Windows is different.

Regards,
Ishtiaq.

Hi,

Check Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/ and "Languages" tag to
see if there is an option for "Language used in menus and dialogs"?

If so, you can change language using the option. But it usually comes when
you installed with language packs.

How did you install the English version of IE and OE in the first place?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.

Setting this option to English changes the Japanese Menus to non-readable
format like ??????.

I installed IE and OE in first place by downloading and installing English
versions of IE6 SP1 before installing SP2. After installing SP2, there is no
option of installing IE seperately. It has been bundled with SP2, without
any choice for setting language. So in other words I can state my problem as
"I want to install IE SP1 on WinXP SP2".

I know many other people having the same problem and almost all of them have
shifted to other browsers like firefox. I am also using firefox but I think
there should be some solution to this problem.
