Windows Defender shows updates 20 days old but when I try to update it says
definitions are up to date but still shows updates as 20 days old. The
signature definitions I have is v.1.14.1353.2 dated 23rd March 2006. Does
anyone know if the definitions have updated since then?

Thanks to SJP and dfrog for replies. It looks as if some sort of adjustment
is needed.

¶ Just think - maybe the Joneses are trying to keep up with you.

I had trouble getting it to update . I tried this and the problem was
solved . It's a good work around . This deletes the data base . Then you
redownload it . Worked for me .
Bill: Thanks for the reply. I have the MS document but haven't yet deleted
the data base. Once you have redownloaded the database, does it then
download automatically (with windows update??) or do you have to go through
the remove and replace routine each time?
