Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware v1.0.615 Beta


Overview :

Windows AntiSpyware is a security technology that helps protect Windows
users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Known spyware
on your PC can be detected and removed. This helps reduce negative
effects caused by spyware including slow PC performance, annoying pop-up
ads, unwanted changes to Internet settings, and unauthorized use of your
private information. Continuous protection improves Internet browsing
safety by guarding ways spyware can enter your PC.

What's New:

The latest beta refresh, build 1.0.615, addresses issues pertaining to
how Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) provides information to the user about
processes running on a PC, solves an issue regarding the delivery of new
anti-spyware signatures for some customers and provides new signature
updates to help protect against recently identified spyware.

A. Doesn't work with W9X
B. Unless things have changed, doesn't detect Claria (AKA "Gator"), one
of (IMO) the most notorious of spyware/adwares.

My beef with it is that it when I tell it to check for updates, it never
updates the software, only the defs. Seems a waste to me. Am I missing
something?

Also not working on Win9X is a bummer. I have an older laptop (that I
play on mostly) that runs Win98SE and MSAS will not install, because it
was not made for older OS's.

Works fine for me. In fact, as I write this I got a popup informing me
about a new MSAS version.

I should have explained better. When I do an update of the sigs, it
updates and the second step is to check to see if I have the most
current software. It always says I have the most current version and
never offers to update it.
