G'day
Did a quick search for your error and, it looks messy.
Windows Defender updates come through the Windows update site.
As a first step try going there (in Administrative Mode) and, with luck, the
main frame might offer the 'fix' as well as the curent signature version
you're looking for....1.13.1286.1.
If not, you will need to hang in there, help will arrive!
Good luck.

G'day doc,
Found this advice @ 'Microsoft Technet'>'Windows update'
courtesy of MVP Patti MacLeod

"Hi elhirsch,
I noticed the 80244001 error in the log file that you posted. Often this
error occurs due to the MSXML3.dll file not being properly registered. Try
re-registering that file.....

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box.

((The thread later suggests rebooting after this process may be necessary
---shannis))

Now try the Windows Update site."

......Thak you Patti. The Updates are now downloading.

....I had the same problem as Jalbert and elhirsch. I followed just one of
patti's suggestions, "Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box." and it works great now.

THANK YOU!
