Update doesn't work

Hello,

I have Windows XP Home Edition. I've tried to update it several times. I
click on the icon in my system tray, click on the download or whatever it is
button (I can't check it now, when I click on the button the icon disappears
from my system tray). Then nothing seems to happen I don't see any
progress or anything going on. Do I need to do anything with my firewall
settings or something?
