update and mouse

Hi - HELP!! after installing SP4 for win2k, my mouse kept
darting about eratically on its own and doing amazing
tricks. i rebooted and now my PC can't see my mouse- in
control panel, it shows a blank instead of seeing the
mouse. The mouse works fine on my laptop... Please does
anyone know how I can force my PC to see it. (ps I have
swapped mouse and keyboard over as they can each plug into
each others ports, adn it makes no differnce. I'm now
using the mouse control by the arrows on the numeric
keypad!!!!

If you say you look in device manager and under the mouse you see a blank my
suggestion would be to delete it (the blank), then reboot, hopefully on the
reboot it will redetect it and reinstall the drivers.
