I am running Windows XP. I have a very irritating problem with Microsoft
Internet Explorer launching AUTOMATICALLY and repeatedly to open many
separate windows of unwanted sites. This happens even when MS Internet
Explorer is NOT initially running.
1. I have run Norton virus scanner with NO problems reported (with the
latest virus definitions loaded).
2. I reinstalled an original version of the Internet Explorer and the
problem remains.
3. I have run Ad-Aware with NO problems reported.
4. I run No-Adware which reports
5. I try to delete the rogue directory entries using Regedit. The register
entries seem to be deleted but when I immediately reopen the register
(Regedit) the unwanted entries are present.
6. I can run Netscape without unwanted windows opening in the Netscape
browser but the MS Internet Explorer unwanted windows do open “automaticallyâ€.
7. I discovered a program called Instant Access installed. (This may have
bee installed by a kid using the machine.) This appeared in a footnote credit
one one or more of the rogue sites. I removed the Instant Access program
using the Control Panel utility. The program files were removed.
8. Upon connecting to the internet and with no browsers open, the rogue
sites reappeared in Internet Explorer windows (35+ sites!).
9. The Instant Access program was again installed.
So many new IE windows open that the problem is very irritating.
Do you have a suggestion for a solution?
Thanks, Gene Carson
