Unwanted, uninvited software invasion

Today my computer received an uninvited malware scan of my computer,
stating that I had 98 items to be removed. I clicked the Register
option and found they wanted $29.95 a year for Malware Destruct
service. I didn't want it but it keeps coming up every couple of
minutes trying to pester me into buying it. Finally, I couldn't get
rid of it so went to Add/Remove Programs, found it listed and removed
(uninstalled it). I got a message that it was successfully
uninstalled. A couple of minutes later it was still there and
continued to pester me. I went to Google and went to their site and
said I wanted to contact them. I left them an email that I didn't
invite them and wanted rid of it. Nothing happened. I contacted them
again, this time selecting the subject I Want A Refund. I told them
they are supposed to be a service but are a virus. Nothing has
happened I uninstalled the program again, to no avail. How can I get
rid of this??? Please help. I have Windows XP pro.
Thanks
Ron Howard
