unwanted software

Recently I've experienced software forced on my Windows
2000 application, searchxl.com, and it appears without
being called and it takes over any window I have on
display without any recourse but alt/ctrl/delete. How can
I eliminate it?
 
You have what most people would call spyware. Applications that track your
internet usage etc.

Goto this website and download adaware. This tool will scan your pc and
clean it for you.
