Unwanted reformatting of protected cells

I have many different spreadsheets in which I have entered data in a range
of cells and formatted ells to display in a particular way (e.g. a column of
times formatted to display in hh:mm:ss).
Despite these cells displaying correctly and the cells being protected and
the worksheet being protected then the spreadsheet saved, if I then open the
spreadsheet, these cells formatting has been changed to a date format!
This is so annoying (on top of the Clipboard error that Microsoft refuses to
correct) that I’m at my wit’s end! These errors are taking so much time to
constantly corre4ct!

WHY is this happening and how do I STOP it? My understanding of protected
cells and worksheets is that they should not be able to be changed!

Hi USAOz -
I'm having a similar problem and the discussion group has been oddly quiet.

My issue occurs when running a 2003 .xls spreadsheet in 2007 compatibility
mode. It changes to default settings both locked and unlocked cells that
have had any changes made to them. Untouched data remains in the original
format.

Any similarity to what you are dealing with?

EXACTLY my problem! One wonders why bother posting to these forums if not
even a Microsoft MVP will monitor and attempt to get a resolution to a
obvious bug/problem! This one is SO annoying and coupled to that damn
clipboard issue makes what was once a rock-solid excellent app a nightmare to
use!
