Unwanted privileges

I have a fresh reloaded Windows 2000 machine...whenever I
create new users, they can access the administrator
folder. For example...I right click on My Computer, go to
manage, create a new local user with the default
restricted privileges. When I log on to that account, I
am able to open the administrator folder under documents
and settings. I would expect it to say "access denied." I
have check and double check that the account does not have
any administrative privileges and it does not seem to have
any. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running NTFS as your file system? Also, this is a Win XP group,
not Windows 2000.

Yes I am running NTFS. I figured that might be the
problem. I converted it from FAT 32 just yesterday. It
did not change anything. I apologize for being in the
wrong group. I realized I hit the XP group after I sent
the message. Any more help would be appreciated though.

Ok, are you running XP Pro, or XP Home?

XP PRO: In Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck
Use Simple File Sharing. Now, when you right click on a drive, folder or
file (on an NTFS partition) and select Properties, you'll see a Security
tab. Here you can assign or deny permissions based on user name or user
group membership.

XP Home: By default, you can only make files and folders under My Documents
"private". This is done by right clicking a folder or file and selecting
Properties, Sharing. To change the permissions on other folders, you need
to boot the computer to Safe Mode and log in on the built in Administrator
account. In this mode, you'll see the Security tab in Properties, and you
can assign permissions based on user name or group membership.

tab appear outside of Safe Mode)
