unwanted operating system

A few days ago I inserted my windows 2000 cd and the setup
automaticly began, I closed it because I only wanted to
make a backup of the cd. Now every time I turn on my
computer it comes up with a list of operation systems to
load. It shows "Microsoft Windows 2000 proffessional"
and "Windows 2000(default)". Now I have to always
select "windows 2000 professional" to start normally, when
I load the other one it says that some .dll file cannot be
found. How can I remove the "windows 2000(default)"
operating system from my 'boot list'.

Hi, Haydon.

Just edit the Hidden file C:\boot.ini to eliminate the line(s) you don't
want. Make sure the one you DO want is shown in the top portion as
Default=. Note that boot.ini refers to the different Win2K installations by
rdisk(#)partition(#)\WinNT, not by drive letter. Rdisk(#) means your HD
number, starting with zero, and partition(#) means the number of the volume
(primary partition or logical disk in the extended partition), starting with
one on each HD. The label inside the quotes is only for us humans; the
computer ignores the label, so you can edit it to say what you want, so that
you can tell the different Windows installations apart.
