There is unwanted gray is behind text in footer auto-text in Word 2002 (SP3).

I don't want the gray color behind my auto-text of filename and path and
behind my page numbers.

Highlight, Fiill, Shadow, Shading, and Background are all set to be clear.
but the gray color being the auto-text of FileName and Path and page number
persists on both my display, and also on printouts.

How do I get rid of the gray color behind the auto-text ?

Any reply will be appreciated.

To change the display, in Tools > Options > View, set Field Shading to "When
selected" or "Never".

This field shading should never print. I don't know how you're getting that.
