Unwanted desktop icons

Can anyone please advise how I can remove unwanted desktop icons such as
poker, casino travel which open up search web pages.

The right click will not work to allow me to delete.

Many thanks for your reply.

I used the WINPATROL program to identify the exe file and then removed it
from the start up.

I also have some annoying search bar at the bottom of my IE page....can you
advise on how to remove this ??
