unwanted addresses automatically added to address book

How do I change the default so that when others send me emails that have
multiple email addresses, those email addresses aren't added to my address
book? I keep getting more and more email addresses of people I don't know.

Tools, Options, Send, uncheck "Automatically put people..."

Thank you so much. Just so I understand it fully---If someone sends me email
to multiple people and I reply to only the one who sent it, it also adds all
the people "they" sent it to? Because I don't reply to the others & they are
put in my book. (unless I at some time replied to all which I sometimes do if
they send an urban legend and I want them to know it is an email without
validity.)

I don't know for sure since I have never had that option enabled.
As I understand it, only the recipient you actually send to will be
added to the Contacts list.

If you choose Reply it just goes to the sender.
If you choose Reply All it goes to the sender and to everyone in the To or
CC fields.
