unusual XP problem

steve

I am suddenly getting a error message "dinst.exe - Bad Image. The
application or DLL C:\Windows \ dsr.dll is not a valid windows
image. Please check this against your installation disc." What is
this and is it possible to get rid of this? This can pop up at any
time no matter what program I am using. Thanks

Thanks for the advice but I noticed this started happening after I
installed a particular game. Uninstalling the game has not fixed it.
I'd appreciate any further advice.

Both of the files you named are known to be used by spyware. Possibly the
game included some spyware or it may just be a coincidence but you are or
were infected with spyware.

Your welcome. Spyware is a pain. Unfortunately there are no shortcuts to

I have the same problem since Tuesday. I lost my ADSL connection upon
starting the computer and any program I try to run I get the "Bad Image"
error message. I have run Adware and Spybot and both gave clean results. I
can not run Norton AV since I am getting the same error. I can not uninstall
Norton in order to Install the NAV2005. I tried directly to install the
NAV2005 but gives an install error and quits. Micro Center told me that I
have to reinstall WINXP Pro from my recovery disks. Is this the solution?
What else can I do?
I am desperate.
Please reply
Thanks
Chris

This is an old thread. I am not sure from your post what your problem is.
You will get more help by starting a new thread and clearly stating what
