unusual file properties

When I click the file properties for 'temporary internet
files' folder it shows over 12000 files and 20
subfolders. When I try and view the files/folders
through 'my computer' it shows no sub folders. I have
searched through the hidden files option and I even ran a
folder search trying to locate the subfolders but nothing
comes up. I know they are there because if I run my
virus scan on the 'temporary internet files' folder it
scans all 12000 files and I got the name of the folders
through the virus scan. How can I view/delete these
files and folders?

The physical TIF folder is organised with a set of subfolders and an
index, to make access to the files faster. My Computer/Explorer is
aware of this and displays the files as a single level.

And it sounds as if the space for TIF is bigger than is a good idea -
there can be side effects from the index overloading. In Control Panel
- Internet Options in the middleman of the page there is a button to
Delete files (presuming that there is normally nothing in TIF you want
to keep once a browsing session is over). Then click Settings and
reduce the space allowed - I would suggest 50 MB is plenty if you are
not in the habit of downloading enormous files and only then deciding
where to put them
