Unsupported methods for running the PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM

I was looking for information on running the PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM, however, the Microsoft
Knowledge Base article I was looking for was removed.

"In the past, Microsoft has posted unsupported methods for running the PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM. These methods have been removed from the Web."

I'm aware that there is a newer version of the PowerPoint Viewer that can run from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM without
any problem, but that isn't what I'm asking.

I need to run the PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM and would like to ask if anyone knows what
these "unsupported methods" were.

Nevermind.

I Googled it on the assumption that every link would have the same "This article has been removed from the
web", but I was surprised to see that I was able to get my hands on it (even in PDF format). Given that I
would have found anything at all.

So for anyone else who is looking to do this, here you go:

Of course, you'll need to obtain the PowerPoint Viewer 97 before you can do any of that.
