Curious window on opening PowerPoint

R

RainPure

I am running Vista Ultimate with all available updates and Microsoft Office
Ultimate.

When I try to open PowerPoint 2007 I get a window that says "Please wait
while Microsoft configures Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition".

If I click on "Cancel" the window closes and PowerPoint opens normally.

If I wait then I am eventually told that "The feature you are trying to use
is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available".

Does anyone have any suggestions for eliminating this annoyance?

Hi,

I wonder what the source CD/DVD was you installed from? Or did you or
someone else do a custom install? Sounds like PowerPoint is looking for some
sort of programming files or setup. Maybe Detect and repair might get rid of
it. I know Detect and Repair is a bit lame, but I've found it actually solve
some problems.

I installed the program from the original "Genuine" Microsoft Office Ultimate
DVD over a year ago. It worked fine untiil this month when this problem
cropped up.

Hi RainPure,

I kind of think there is some other program that is mucking with PowerPoint.
I would have thought that Diagnostics may have found it :-(

Can you please try one more thing? When you get the error box pop up, can
you please try this one?
