Unsolvable problem?

I recently installed Windows XP Home on top of Windows
98. Even though I have reinstalled Office 2000 in XP I
cannot access the old Outlook messages that existed when
I was running 98. Can I assume that they are gone forever
and there is no way to now access them?

Define "cannot access"

Did you search for all *.pst files and try to access them ?
