I have Norton. Another antispyware came on my computer telling me I had a
serious virus, I wasn't having any of it so I deleted it from my computer but
on the bar at the bottom of my computer and X still remains and keeps
flashing about a virus don't know I can get rid of the icon from down there,
can anyone help me, it's very irritating?

(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with

I recommend against using Norton home security products. At best they are
resource hogs, and can cause problems sooner or later. There are better
alternatives, some of which are free, including:

Avast (free), Anti-Vir (free); NOD32 and Kaspersky (both paid).

You also need to run _several_ anti-spyware apps that deal with non viral
malware. There are a variety of good ones, all of which are free: Ad-Aware
SE Personal, SpyBot S&D, Windows Defender, SuperAntiSpyware, AVG
AntiSpyware, BHO Demon, Spyware Blaster, HijackThis.

For firewall there is Sunbelt Software Kerio Personal Firewall, Comodo
Personal Firewall, and Zone Alarm.

Without knowing the identifying information from the program you deleted or
that icon, it will be difficult.

But, there is possibly a folder somewhere in the Program Files structure
that has the files you weren't able to delete. You probably won't be able
to delete them while the icon is visible, but you probably can rename the
folder (I usually add an X to the start of the folder name). After a
reboot, the launcher references will be invalid, and you can then delete it.
You'll probably get some error messages at reboot that will help verify the
identity.

Right-click on it and see if there are any options. Go to the startup tab
in msconfig and see if you can identify the launcher from there.

Be aware that the current version of Zone Alarm has some unwanted baggage.
Its main problem is that it delays the booting of your PC by some
considerable time while it starts and configures itself. It also sometimes
has some unwanted side effects, such as causing some of your drive letters
to follow on from C:, and no amount of changing them will work 9the most
common complaint). It can aslo disable DVD access on the primary DVD drive
(though AFAIK CDs still work).

Along with the other suggestions, download a small app called VUNDOFIX.exe.
It targets a specific group of spyware apps (Virtumonde.. aka Winfixer))
that can auto-install, or trick you into installing, from web pages. These
apps masquerade as anti-spyware but are in fact spyware or malware
themselves.
