Unrequested and unwanted reminders

I recently got a new PC and upgraded from office 2000 pro to Outlook 2007. I set up a new outlook PST and imported my old outlook folders from my old PST into the new file.

Every time I open outlook I get 3424 reminders - these are not for calendar entries they are for each individual email I imported from my old pst.

I can click "dismiss all" but they just pop back up again every 5 mins. Because there are so many this is killing outlook which keeps not responding because of the heavy load.

I've run outlook/cleanreminders and tried saving my email folders into a new PST but get the same problem...

HELP!

Which method of transferring data did you use exactly?
You have reminders set on all your emails?
