Unremoveable URLs in Internet Explorer Address Bar

Rips

Hi

there's a pop down box on the address bar that appears and it has two
URLs that cannot be removed even when clearing the history, etc. One is
Winamp.LNK and the other is a random URL. Does anyone know how to remove
these?

Thanks

Thanks have found the problem. It's infact the Auto-Complete for Web
addresses that is coming up everytime. Do you know how to clear this?

The problem is that the normal way to clear links from the auto-complete
is to do it from the general tab.

But this doesn't remove them.

They're not stored as typed urls in the reg keys mentioned earlier.

Booting into safe mode and clearing the history from the general tab
doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

Hi,
These URLs you're seeing are in the index.dat file in the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ should be able to clear the History
and the index.dat file. Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Hope this helps,
Don

"> Sometimes us OE people forget where we are. <VBG>

Heh! That's a given most any time with me!

As I looked at the name in the newsgroup listing to double check which group
I was in, I'm sure I heard a faint voice somewhere that said ...."heh...
heh...made you look!" ;o))
