Unregmp2.exe blocking XP repair

This file or something to do with it is blocking a routine XPHE SP2 repair.
25 minutes before completion the repair stalls with following dialog box:

Unregmp2.exe – no disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
\Device\harddisk4\DR44

If anyone knows a workaround or explanation for this I’d be very grateful.

Here's a quote from a source I copied a while ago but can't remember where:

'I received a reponse from Microsoft that worked.
When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.

It worked like a champ first time!"

Hope it helps you.
