UNRECOGNIZED DATABASE FORMAT

Hi All,
A friend asked me to look at his Access Database, a copy of which he brought
in flash drive. When I tried to open it however, I got the error message
"UNRECOGNIZED DATABASE FORMAT". The database (Access 2000)works well in his
laptop (Windows XP). I have Access 2002, on Windows XP. What should I do to
open the database for editing?

the database became corrupted. what you need to do is:

create a new database, right click on the blank white area in the tables
object collection. Select import from the pop-up menu, enter the path of
the corrupt database, then import all objects into the new database.

It is a good idea to do a periodical compact/repair. Just select tools then
compact/repair.

Get your friend to send you another copy. This once is very probably
corrupt.

See http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm for symptoms and
possible cures.

You're asking in the wrong place. The webpage can be confusing - you
have picked the first subject in alphabetical order, a newsgroup about
the database software Microsoft Access. If you have a question about
some other program for opening pictures, please scroll down the list
of subject areas and find one for that program.
