Unrecognized database format - how could this be?

I created a database on my computer using Word to use for our auction at my
son's school. I wanted to go into the database and print it out. I went to
the C drive as I could not find it any where else. I found the database in
"My data sources" but when I try to open it, I get an error message
"Unrecognized database format: How could this be since I don't have Access
as part of my Office package? I can open it in Word but cannot print out the
Database. How do I correct this problem so I can access the database and
keep using it ? Also, to keep it from happening in the future. Thanks so
much in advance for your help - I am perplexed to say the least!

A Word document is not a database. And, if you tried to open an ACCESS
database (mdb or accdb file) with Word, then you just corrupted it and it is
not recoverable.

Bob, I created the database in word and saved it in Word. What I am trying
to figure out is how did the database that I created in Word get saved as an
Access file when I don't have Access? This makes no sense to me. I can open
and use it in Word but cannot access the database directly because I don't
have Access. I need someone to help me figure this out, please!

Word is a wordprocessing program - it does not produce databases! You can
create a Word Table, but if you want an actual database you need either Access
or SQL/Server or some other specific database program.

I would suggest reposting your question in a Word newsgroup (scroll down the
list); indicate what version of Word you are using and just what steps you
took to create this "database".
