This is a pretty gooy question but here goes. My wife's profile keeps
showing 20 unread messages at the logon profile screen. I have checked and
there are no unread mail for either of us. She uses web based mail, however
we both used to use Outlook on her profile as well. All messages in Outlook
were deleteted, as were both profiles and all the .PST files. How do I get
the misleading message to stop displaying everytime she logs on or off?

Much appreciated

I will try that next. I was not sure if this is an Outlook issue or an XP
issue. Maybe an unknow setting. I will ck there as well. Thanks for the
suggestion

TweakUI can reset the email count for on the Welcome Screen

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Within TweakUI go to "Repair" > in the drop down list select "Repair unread
mail count".

----
You could disable this feature as well through the registry.

Turn off Email Notification
Navigate to:
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your_email_address]]
Name: MessageCount
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: (0 = disable, 1 = enable)

Thanks this is what I discovered by browsing other posts, after posting my
message. I, however, did it a little different. I went to
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your_email_address]]
and created a new DWORD value called MessageExpiryDays and set it to 0.
Problem solved. Thanks a lot for all hte suggestions.
