unread mails marked as read under outlook 2007

Hello,
I am using outlook 2007 under Widnows XP SP2.
When I receive many emails such as 100 emails a time, a couple of them
will be marked as read among those new emails. Not sure if it is a bug
in outlook 2007?

Thanks.

If you have a preview pane/reading pane, the first email will be shown in the
reading pane and thus Outlook will mark it as read as the contents will be
revealed in there. Close the reading pane for all the folders that give you
this issue (reading panes are set per folder)

Had a similar issue and my client was adamant that there was someting wrong
with her Office : - ) If it works I will be happy to have been of assistance

Thanks for the help. However, the emails received marked as read are
sometimes in the middle of a bunch of new emails. Not the first email in
the preview pane.

Thanks.

still applies as that was the case with this client of mine. turn off the
reading pane for a while, just a day, am sure it wont do harm ; - )

See if it works. From the tone of your email sounds like Reading Pane is
activated??. take it on faith.

Are you still sorting your mail by received date? Are these "read" messages
actually new, or messages that came in earlier and you have read?

yes. sorted by received date.
these read messages are new and they all come together, only a couple of
them are marked as read.

I just checked and noticed that the reading pane is set as off by
default. not sure what is the problem here?
