"unread email messages" doesn't update

D

Doug Murray

On Welcome screen, the "unread email messages" alert
reflects a mailbox which has since been deleted. Re-
booting doesn't work.

Hi Doug,

Click on Start/Run and type Regedit and press enter. Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

and delete the keys under it which represent the mail accounts that you dont use anymore. Please be advised that
incorrectly editing the registry can be fatal to the OS and leave the system un-bootable. Use caution when editing the
registry.
