unpluging usb pen drive causes reboot

when i unplug a usb pen drive it causes the pc to reboot. I have tried this on another xp machine the same happens. I have tried it on my xp laptop it works fine, and on a win2k pc it works fine. I have all xp updates.

Any pc 98 or above doesnt need drivers. Any ideas gratefully recieved.
