unopened e-mail message

i have a message on my windows log in screen that says i
have an unopened e-mail below my username but all emails
are opened. how do i make this go away?

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its repair mail count feature or
use it to turn the mail count off completely.

Or edit the registry and delete the mail accounts you don't want:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

the e-mail account is a current account do i still want
to turn it off?

thanks for the help i solved my problem i had a message
sitting in an outlook express account that is not my
default e-mail!

The responding poster didn't mean disabling the email account. He meant
turning off the email message on the log in screen.

Don't disable the email account, you can just disable the notification. It's
totally up to you whether you want it displayed on the welcome screen or
not.
