Unnecessary question

When I open a Word document and then close it immediately, without doing
anything to the .doc, it will always ask me: "Do you want to save the change
to xyz.doc?" Yes/No/Cancel

This can be confusing. How can I stop Word from such unnecessary and
confusing messages?

How can you remember all these complexities of Word? Life is getting too
complicated!
