Unmovable obstacle

After reinstallation of Windows,( due to a crash) I unlocked the taskbar so
that I could transfer some of everyday use icons onto it, by the Start, but
I cannot move the two dotted lines to the right and consequently cannot drag
to or copy and paste the icons I want there. Can anyone please suggest a
solution to this problem?

Is the Quicklaunch bar visible? If not then maybe that's why

Plus lock the taskbar again & then unlock it to see if that works too

Yes, and I tried lock/unlock several times, but I cannot get anything onto
it.
