I ran fdisk on a hard drive to delete the volume then tried to install
Windows XP on the drive. When Windows begins to load from the Windows XP cd
I get the error "unmountable_boot_volume" Stop: (0x8236B478, 0xC0000010,
0x00000000, 0x00000000).

I've gone to Microsoft's support site and checked out the two white papers
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297185
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315403
at Microsoft's site but they aren't any help. This drive originally had
Windows server 2003 installed on it and it ran just fine.

Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Reboot, set cmos configuration to boot to CDROM first, install windows from existing partition, or where ever you left off.
I had a computer with same message awhile back.

Problem is fixed. I had to replace the cd rom. After trying several times
to install XP on this computer with no luck I tried installing Windows 2000
on it. I was getting errors on that install as well. After replacing the
cd rom the XP installation went perfect. Thanks to everyone who offered
assistance.
