Hi I encounter the above error when I start my Windows XP. Now the system
just keep rebooting itself as it tries to start Windows but failed. I've pop
in my recovery disc but the sooner it runs, it went straight into asking me
where I want to setup my Windows. I dont even have the chance to do a disk
repair! Pls help as the data in the disc in extremely important. If I cant
repair the disc I hope I can transfer the files out before reformating.

If you only have a recovery cd then what you can do with it depends on what
the PC maker has allowed for, you might want to check the PC manu site or
bumph as to what you can do with the recovery disk.
It could be a corrupt win.ini or a failing hd.
You might want to test the hd with the hd manu checking utility, available
on their site.

PS Someone else with extremely important data and no backups?
