Unlinked Subreports

I have created two reports of salesmen's sales for two product groups.
Because both groups have the same VP, I put both reports (as
subreports) on a single report. It works perfectly except that the
resulting report has more than 1,000 identical pages. It should be
only one page. What am I doing wrong?

Did you make sure you set the Link Master/Child properties of the
subreports?
Did you remove a detail level from the main report? For instance if you are
showing Sales transactions in the detail report, the main report's record
source should not include sales transaction details.

Thank you for the reply. There is no detail on the main report. It
has a header which is the column headings. The body of the report is
just the two subreports. There is no link between the two. Each
subreport shows the same information, such as year to date sales, but
it is for an entirely different group of salesmen.

Does the main report have a record source. There is no "body of the report".
There are sections of a report such as the Report Header, Group Footers,
Page Header, Detail...

Are you only wish to filter the records in the subreports or are the records
fitlered but repeating?

The only things in the detail area of the report are the two
subreports. I am using the report as a way of combining the two
subreports on a single page.

I realize I forgot the "?" at the end of this sentence:
Does the main report have a record source.
But that doesn't mean you don't need to answer it.

We can't see your report properties. There is usually a reason why questions
are posted in our replies.

NO, the main report is simply a place to combine the two subreports on
a single page. The two subreports are identical, except that each one
is fror a separate group of salesmen. They have the same fields, but
they have nothing else in common.

On secon thought, forget it. I found someone on the Microsoft support
web site who actually understands and can write in English and isn't a
jerk. He solved the problem with one email.

I thought my English was fairly good other than missing the question mark. I
also now see some spelling issues but those are common in news groups.

Your statements were confusing:
"There is no detail on the main report"
then
"The only things in the detail area of the report are the two subreports"

I was only looking for clarification so that we could help fix _your
problem_.

I'm not sure what I said that qualifies me as "a jerk".

Do you mind sharing your final solution? That's what these public news
groups are about.

BTW: are you MikeB who had his question answered by Marsh? It looks like he
suggested about the same thing that I did early on in this thread.

If that's the case, I truly don't understand:
-why you started another thread with the same question
-what was so different about our replies?
Marsh just told you to get rid of the report's record source
I asked if your report had a record source.
Marsh got thanked and I got "spanked"
