Within the past two days, the following 'website' has tried to set itself as
my default homepage. The strange thing is, I've never seen the website, and
I've certainly never set it as my homepage. Each time that I try to reset my
homepage to the desired target, the unknown website seems to reset itself as
default each time I restart my computer. I've even tried blocking the website
through Internet options, but it won't allow me because its 'not vaild URL'.
The website link is : res://msaps.dll/index.html
Now what should I do about this? I have the 'Yahoo toolbar' which has pop-up
blocker and anti-spy, I have 'spy-bot search and destroy' (anti-spy
software), and Shredded. I run all of these programs regularly, and I've ran
them after my little problem with the unknown website occured.
I searched for the link 'res://msaps.dll/index.html' in my files/folders (by
going to start>find>files and folders) and entering the link into the
'containing text' box, and these following files came up:
User.Dat (in C:\Windows)
System.Dat (in C:\Windows)
Now I know nothing about registry files, so if anyone has that to suggest, I
would appreciate if you could walk me through it with details.
