Unknown language on my PC.

I am checking my sister-in-laws computer to make sure that everything is
alright before she starts her online classes. After deleting some temp files
and cleaining up her cookies, I rebooted the system. When the system
returned to its normal state all of the icons names were shown in symbols and
not english. What can I check to see what is causing this? I need help
badly on this one!
 
did you delete any fonts or change the font settings.... check out ur font
settings. you prolly deleted arial or something like that
