I am getting an unknown device driver error that causes sytem crashes,
corrupt installations, and corruption of downloaded files. Can someone please
help me, I know that I haven't listed any real information. Just tell me what
you need to know to help me.

Are you getting a blue screen of Death? Please post a copy of the Error
Report from Event Viewer ( System tab ).

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Can we try to capture the Stop Error message? I suggest you Disable
automatic restart on system failure. This should
help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click
on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Don't forget to recheck box before Automatically Restart once you have
captured the Stop Error message.

I also suspect you may be getting memory dumps.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is selected and then
select View, Choose Details and check before Name, Type, Total Size, and
Free Space.

Next in Windows Explorer search for "*.dmp" without the quotes and on
the basis you find some files advise the date of the most recent file.

How long before these error started was it that you made any changes to
hardware or programmes, What was the last change? Have you added RAM
memory?

Sorry for the delayed response, my keyboard broke. I will try to write down
the STOP message and find the dump files.

I have found where the dump files for the crashes were stored, how should I
send you the file?

Please send me a copy of your mini dump file to this email
address removing dump from the address.

(e-mail address removed)

I also suggest you post a copy of the STOP message to this newsgroup
thread.

I have sent you the minidump file but I am still waiting for a chance to copy
my STOP error message.

I finally got the blue screen, here is the information...

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0x0000000A (0xC0083FBC, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E8F05)

It's getting late but here's where we start from:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmd_stp_hwpg.asp

http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

Start by looking in the System log in Event Viewer for a corresponding
Error report and copy it here.

Restart your computer and note the precise time the Error occurs. Let
the
computer complete loading Windows and then look in Event Viewer for an
error report firstly on the System tab and if not there on the
Application.
Don't be fussy over a minute or two but ignore any messages from before
you restarted. Please post a copy here You can access Event Viewer by
selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching
the
meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and
Description are important.

Next try testing your RAM memory

Memtest86 - Memory Diagnostic Page:

Another area to look is a driver problem but we can look at this after
doing the above.

Hope this helps.

In the last year I have had my computer, it has crashed and deleted all
contant off my hard drive making me reinstall windows XP SP2. When it crashes
it is only after I shut it down then try and start it up sometime later. A
blue screen comes up with a error message about the physical memory being
dumped. After the first time it happened my sound and video card do not work
and my computer is very slow. Does anyone know what this is from and how I
can correct it.
