the two installations will be on different partitions, use a partition
tool to delete the installation you don't want then run msconfig fromw
ithin windows to remove the reference to it from boot.ini

however i would prefer to blast the drive and start all over sounds
messy.

Flamer.

How do you know they will be on two different partitions? That is not a
requirement.

Your post is unclear. Did you install a second copy of XP in a different
language, or did you think that you could reinstall XP on top of itself and
during that process choose a different language, and instead ended up with
two different XP installations in the same language? What is the story?
Where are the two XP installations? In the same partition or different
partitions/drives? Which one do you want to keep?

What happens when you start the computer? Does it give a boot menu with two
different installations to choose from? If so what are they called? Do
both of them work, that is can you select either one, and have it boot into
windows?

You could also include the contents of the boot.ini file in your reply.
This is a hidden file in the root folder of the (normally) C: drive.

I think this is right.

Insert winxp cd and follow instructions

Use 'format and use entire disk space' this will wipe out all previous
XP installs and simply install XP on one single partition.

This 'will' wipe out all data you have saved in the past. If you have
nothing important to save then this will be easy.
