I wish to uninstal Windows XP but get the message : "
Setup cannot uninstal Windows XP because the backup files
for your previous version of Windows are incomplete or
missing." I still have my disc available which I used to
originally start me on Windows 98 - my XP was the Home
Edition Upgrade.

Hi,

It means what it says, you cannot downgrade. You will need to format and do
a clean install of Win98 if you wish to return to that system. Reasons it
can happen:

- you did not select the option to backup the existing system in the first
place
- you deleted the undo file
- you converted to NTFS
- you reinstalled WinXP over itself

Unless you backed up your 98 when xp installed it's gone. You will have to
format and reinstall 98.
