Uninstalling Vista

Can I uninstall Vista and return to XP without a format? I have been running
Vista for a few days on my system but I really don't like it that much. Too
many things are not working that I need and one of them is my display drivers
are not working correctly.

When I installed Vista I selected upgrade when it gave me the opertunity. I
will format if I must but it would be nicer to be able to just step back.

Thanks.

Hi,
This is what Microsoft said about Vista installs on the Customer Preview
Program screen. I'm afraid you will have to do a reinstall of XP.

"In addition, once you install Windows Vista RC1, you cannot roll back to
the previous operating system installation—you will either have to acquire
and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a
previous edition of Windows. Before installing Windows Vista RC1 on any
computer, please remember to back up all your files."

Which version of Vista are you running??
Give us some specific problems as well as computer
specs...mobo/ram/cpu/video card
maybe someone here can sort it out................
before you go to the drastic step of a format and lose all.

Don't forget to copy off all the personal files, mail, etc you have before
formatting.
Since you did an upgrade you can't step back.

Hi,

Yes you can roll-back. When you computer starts, press F8 continuously for
advanced startup options. You should see an option "Windows Setup Rollback."
Installation for me has failed many times and I keep using it to roll back to
Windows XP.

Hope this helps.

If your upgrade to Vista was successful, then there is no way to rollback to
XP. That option disappears after a successful upgrade.

That will only work if Setup has not completed. If Setup has completed,
there is no roll-back option.
