uninstall Vista Ultimate

I installed the upgrade to windows vista ultimate, because I thought I had to
when I bought my computer. Now that I know it is unneccessary, I want to use
just the vista Retail. How do I uninstall Vista Ultimate? I have already
gone into control panel and it does not give me the options. Am I going to
need to do a system restore? And if I do, is that going to wipe off
everything else that i have installed.

Hello Brink,

I did what that link said and called the activation number and they were not
able to help me. They then gave me a phone 800-642-7676 which I was told was
technical support. It was not, so I was tranferred to anohter area. They
were unable to help as well, but were kind enough to give me the
866-441-1525, which happens to be technical support. I was told that I am
out of luck and that there is no way to register Windows Home Premium,
because I accidentally installed Ultimate and there is no way to undo that
action, because I did not do a custom installation. So, I have to buy
Windows ultimate....I'm on hold now. I've been on that phone with them for
over an hour. He said that I will not be able to do a system restore, as all
the settings have been changed. I really need to learn to read the fine
print!! Any suggestions?

System restore will not do the trick...
you will need to backup your data then use the restore disk that should have
come with your PC...
that will put it back to it's factory new condition...
Note:" that will wipe out your data...so be sure to backup your stuff first!

Additionally, depending on how your computer was setup...
instead of a restore disk...there might instead...be a restore partition on
your harddrive...
consult your users manual for the exact procedure
