Will the license expire?

Hi all,
I have a license of windows vista Ultimate. I installed it on my machine
which has Windows Vista Home installed by the manufacturer. I did not install
Windows Vista Home. Rather I installed Windows Vista Ultimate for which I
bought a license. Now I have bought another machine and I wanted to install
Windows Vista Ultimate on a new machine and restore windows Vista home on the
old machine.
I am afraid that license of ultimate once activated on a machine will not be
activated on another machine. This should be clear that the machine on which
the Windows Vista Ultimate was first activated will UNINSTALL this Windows
Vistal Ultimate.
Please adivse.

Thanks,
Leo

As long as the Vista Ultimate license is a retail one (or specific type)
that permits it to be moved from one machine to another (unlike an OEM
license that is tied to the first machine it is installed to), the only
thing you may have to do is activate by telephone - just follow the
instructions in the activation wizard.

Retail licenses do not expire. You can do what you want to do just fine.
You will likely get a message from the activation wizard on the new computer
that the product you entered is already in use. Just continue to the phone
activation screen and keep it open while you call the number given on the
screen. You won't have any difficulty.

I'm making an assumption here:
Your Vistal Ultimate is a Full Retail Version and not an Upgrade version.
While the disk has the same contents, the product key is different and makes
the installation different.

Restore the first machine using the recovery partition or recovery disks to
the orignal Vista Home Premium.
Install Vista Ultimate on the second machine. You may need to call MS and
talk to a human representative to activate since it has been less than 120
days since you originally activated the product. Just make sure they
understand that Vista Ultimate is only installed on one machine and they
will give you the code you need.
