Uninstalling TCP/IP

I had an error message that read "An operation was
attempted on something that is not a socket" when I tried
to renew my TCP/IP address. I then followed Microsoft's
Knowledge Base Article 318584 to correct the problem but
when I get to the step of uninstalling TCP/IP for the
connection properties the uninstall box is grayed out and
it won't let me uninstall it. Any ideas ? I'm still
getting the same error message even after deleting the
Winsock and Winsock 2 registry keys.

You can't uninstall TCP/IP but you could disable it by
unchecking the box.
