Somehow, about two msft windows updates, when I try to
uninstall any msft software from the add/remove control
panel, it won't let me uninstall until I have put the
original software program disk in cd. Of course, I can't
find my original MapPoint 2001 disk.

Any suggestions.

Thanks
Dale

A few crude suggestions that might achieve some of the
desired results:

1. Delete any desktop icons and edit the start menu to
remove references to the program. I know that this does
not really delete much, but at least you will not have to
be reminded of the old program. If disk space is becoming
an issue, get a new or exta disk, or even an extranl USB
2.0 disk.

2. Above plus delete the associated directory, probably
in C:\Program Files. Be very careful to pick a name that
sounds a lot like MapPoint. Do not empty the recycle bin
for a few days, just in case.

3. Both above, plus use a registry cleaner to fix/delete
what are now orphaned entries. I use Norton Utilities
WinDoctor, but there are others that can do the same,
including RegVac by SuperWin and RegScubXP (free) from
LexunFreeware. Be sure that any registry tool has a
convenient UNDO function! You might also want to backup
your registry first, such as with the free tool ERUNT.
