Uninstalling programs as Administrator?

Guest

Ok I installed a program called Pro Tools on Vista, but as it is only
compatiable with XP I had to install it by right clicking on the installer
and selecting 'Run as Administrator'.

The problem is I now need to uninstall that program but when I try from the
control panel it comes up with the same 'Requires XP SP2 to install and run'
message it did when i tried to install it. Is there any way to perform the
same 'Run as Administrator' command while uninstalling programs from the
control panel?

Thanks for any help,

James

Hi James,

Find the uninstall file that the applet is initializing and right click it
and use the 'run as administrator' option. If it's not in the program
folder, check for the uninstall path in the registry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Hello!

Please forgive the placement of this post, somewhow I can't find the "new"
section, but I found the "reply" section.

Am running Vista Home Premium. All ok, except when I tried to uninstall PC
Tools anti-virus, I get a "runtime error". Was "denied access" when I tried
to manually delete the program-but I have full admin rights.

The worst part is that I can't download McAfee- it tells me to get rid of PC
Tools antivirus first!

Regards
MM
