Yes.

However in many cases a lot of uninstallers do fail at such basic things.
Norton Security comes to mind as being the biggest culprit of having a
terrible uninstaller.

Are you having any issues with specific programs?

It depends upon how good the uninstaller included with the program in
question. Some are 95% effective, some are 40%. All of them leave something
behind.

Hello,
Personal experience, no to your ?.
Several reasons:
1. poor programming.
2. user may reinstall.
3. tracking information.
4. combination of the first three.
I assume there are more reasons.
take care.
beamish.

what better to use to uninstall program: via windows 'Add/remove
program' or via program own uninstaller?

They should both do the same thing. When the program was installed it
should have registered its uninstaller to Windows, which is what gets it
listed in Add/Remove programs.

Either one does an equal job. They both utilize the same uninstall file.

Doesn't make any difference, they both run the same uninstaller. So
whatever is more convenient.

If its a trial software with a "time limit" or a "usage limit", it may
add files or entries to prevent "cheating", and those will not be removed.

Generally yes, although there are many examples of it's not happening
perfectly. However any extra leftover registry entries are almost always
benign and don't hurt you in any way.

It doesn't matter. They are both the same. The entry in Add/Remove Programs
is just a pointer to the program's own uninstaller.

Yes a good uninstall routine should remove all registry entries, but not all
do.

Why? What "workaround"? If there are a couple bits left? The system
ignores them. If you have a problem, state it.
