Uninstalling program not on Add/Remove list

My goal is to delete competing anti-virus software.
My problem - I am unable to uninstall "Live Update" because I deleted it
from the Add/Delete list.

I deleted "Live Update" from the Add/Romove list after being prompted to do
so (pop up message read: Live Update might already be uninstalled and could
be on the list do to an error, would I like to delete it from the list?")

Life Update is still in the Symantec Folder within Programs on my C drive
even after restarting the computer.

How do I completely untinstall Live Update when it no longer appears on the
Add/Remove list?

Simple: Use Explore and delete the Program File Folders involved. Question: Do you have any other Symantec programs that use Live Update?

Could you explain "Use Explore?" I did a search, if that is what you mean.
The other option I thought of was to delete the entire LiveUpdate file. How
can I be sure all files will be deleted?

I uninstalled Symantec Antivirus, and I believe. it was the only program to
use LiveUpdate

Thanks!

What's meant is to use Windows Explorer to show teh "program
files\LiveUpdate" folder and delete it.

Symantec also keeps files under "program files\Common files\symantec
shared", IIRC. Again, if you don't have any other Symantec apps, these
folders can be deleted.

If you have any other Symantec programs, such as pcAnywhere, Norton
Utilities or Ghost, they all use LiveUpdate and it should not be deleted.
If you don't have any other Symantec apps, you can safely delete these
folders.

Since the install wasn't entirely successful, you might want to look at
Symantec Support for any utilities they have that would remove traces of the
old install - it's well known that older debris can cause problems with
reinstalls and it's well known that uninstall sometimes fails, so they have
utilities and instructions for manual removal.

Hi Joyceful1,

Right-click on Start, then click Explore. This gets you around the files and folders on your Hard Drives.

Also look in Drive Letter:\Program Files\Common Files for any Symantec or Norton's Common Folders and their files.

Go to http://www.tune-up.com/ and download a trial copy of TuneUp Utilities 2006. Run its Registry Cleaner. Any changes can be undone.
