uninstalling apps not in uninstall c/p

To clear some disk space I'd like to uninstall lots of
stuff I don't use, including Microsoft
Publisher, and Windows Media Player v.9.

These two don't appear in the uninstall c/p.
I don't know how to get rid of them without leaving loads
of broken registry links etc.
 
Windows Media Player is part of the operating system and cannot be removed.

Look for an uninstall link for Publisher in the Start menu. If you don't
find one there, ask your question in a Publisher newsgroup.
